I'd make Spitfire 6s, K-series Spitfires, Spitfire slant 4s, Spitfire 16v Sprints, GT6 16v Sprints, GT6 2.5l and Saab turbo GT6s (and maybe a Spitfire with a supercharged Triumph bike triple). I'd also swap a 2.0l TR7 slant 4 into a Herald 13/60 Estate and have a really pissed off looking small-chassis Triumph parts-hauler :) does anyone else have a cool idea for a customisation shop?

More power in a swing axled Herald may or may not be a good thing.
Spitfire with a Stag V8?

Yup, bad idea, which is why I'd swap in a rotoflex multilink rear with proper CV axles like I am with my Spitfire :)
Stag V8 would be cool, but I think very very difficult to make fit without ghastly bonnet bulges and very tricky to get the weight distribution anywhere near decent. If memory serves me it's 75kg heavier than the OHV 4...

I know of a Spitfire with a 2.2 Chrysler motor.

Neat :) which 2.2l Chrysler one?

Unsure. The family (4 brothers-and now their kids) all have race cars-all have / had Omnis-GLH's-Neons at some point. One brother races a Spit with a 6. (hillclimbs) He built one for his son-the 2.2 powered car. I remember it had a Dakota trans in it so the motor would go north-south.

I have always fantasized that if the motor in my 2000MK2 goes south, I could pick up a Nissan or Toyota straight 6 and turn it into a gentlemans ultra-classy drift car... Or just a car to embarrass people on the motorway.

Nice :) I like the old Triumph big saloons. There's a two-door one floating around that looks fantastic.
I've seen ones with Nissan RB engines in them, so I'm fairly certain they do fit :)
